Zohr field output up 6 times since its inauguration in Jan, Min

Cairo: Petroleum Minister Tareq el Mulla said the output of Zohr gas field offshore Egypt ramped up six times since President Abdel Fatah El Sisi opened it last January.
The Zohr gas field now produces 2 billion cubic feet per day, equivalent to approximately 365,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
Mulla made the remarks during a field tour on Thursday to the Zohr field. Mulla was accompanied by Eni Board Chairperson Emma Marcegaglia and Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi.
The Italian company has for the first time held its annual board meeting in an oil field; Zohr field.
Mulla said Enis board meeting in Zohr gas field reflects the successful partnership between the petroleum sector and the Italian company, considering the company as a strategic partner of the oil sector.
Mulla added that Zohr field production has hit a record and this would contribute to realizing natural gas self-sufficiency in Egypt.
Meanwhile, Descalzi said the strong relations between Egypt and Italy as well as oil companies of both countries had largely contributed to accomplishing an international record in the petroleum and natural gas industry.
He noted that about 80 percent of the project was carried out by Egyptian companies and this is cogent proof of their efficiency and use of top-notch technology.
According to the firm, this production level was realized due to the commencement of the fifth production unit, supported by the eight gas producers and a new sea line, commissioned last month.
