Tuesday: INTERCEM to discuss future of Cement Industry in Egypt & Africa




: INTERCEM conference, the worlds leading cement industry event, will be held on 18-19 September for its 6th time in Cairo with the attendance of H.E. Eng. Amr Nassar; Minister of Trade & Industry, Mr. Malcolm Shelbourne, Chief Executive INTERCEM and Mr. Medhat Stefanos, Chairman of Cement Division of the Federation of Egyptian Industries along with the participation of representatives from the Building Materials Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.

The conference will shed light on the recent international developments in the Cement production & Trading, in addition to highlighting Egypts leading role in this vital industry; especially after the establishment of the largest Cement plant in the Middle East in Beni Suef governorate with an investment reaching to around $1 billion dollars. This project is considered one of the largest and most modern plants in the world. The plant is made up of 6 production lines to produce around 13 million tons of cement a year. Sinoma CDI from China the EPC contractor will be giving a detailed overview of the project in a presentation during the conference.
The conference will witness an exclusive incident for the cement industry, whereas, On Field Investment Research will reveal for the first time its - yet unpublished -report on the cement industry demand and supply across all major markets. On Field Research is poised to become the go to source for information on the global cement industry over the coming years. This reveal during Intercem Cairo is a giant step for the industry in Egypt.
The conference is taking place during a very important era in Egypt with the massive infrastructure, national projects and new settlements created across all governorates. As well as the private and public investments which increased the consumption of cement in Egypt.
The conference will be held on the 18 & 19 of September. It will be inaugurated by H.E. Eng. Amr Nassar, the Minister of Trade & Industry, followed by a welcome speech by Mr. Malcolm Shelbourne, Chief Executive INTERCEM, and Mr. Medhat IStefanos, Chairman of Cement Division of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
Mrs. Noha Bakr, Executive Manager of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (Cement Division) will showcase the current and future Cement industry, followed by Mr. Wael Ziada, Managing Director from Zilla Capital, who will update delegates on the current status of the Egyptian economy after emerging from the economic challenges during the previous period while highlighting the imperative economic reforms that Egypt is and must take to ensure a better future.
Moreover, representatives from World Bank will highlight the role of International Finance Corporation (IFC) in financing and advising the cement companies in Africa. This will be followed by a panel on the significance of sustainability in the cement industry in Egypt and the efforts exerted to reduce Carbon Dioxide emission.
